16-layer 400GB Blu-ray from Pioneer

Those Blu-ray discs just not HD enough for you? Well maybe Pioneer’s new 16-layer 400GB Blu-ray discs is the answer to your woes.

Announced some time ago, it was recently announceed to the public that the 16-layer discs will go into mass production sometime between now and 2010, with rewritables coming soon after.

Don’t worry though, you won’t haev to upgrade your player in order to view these new discs as Pioneer assured us they will in fact be compatible with existing hardware. Phew.
