Samsung’s MH80 FlashON Hybrid Hard Disk Drive

Samsung has recently introduced MH80, world’s first 2.5-inch hybrid hard drive with 256 megabytes of flash memory. It is designed to work in tandem with Windows Vista capable notebook PCs. Combining hard disk drive with a OneNAND Flash cache it offers faster application launch speeds, faster boot and resume times, increased battery life and greater reliability when used with Microsoft’s ReadyDrive software.

MH80 hybrid hard drive is currently available at a $299 MSRP. When the MH80 motor is switched off, the drive parks its heads in a protective ramp and becomes much less susceptible to shock damage, minimizing the possibility of data loss even under extreme conditions. JVC surprised everyone at the InfoComm 2007 with the announcement of its new 1.27 Inch 4K2K D-ILA Device. It is the world’s smallest and highest pixel density projection chip with a higher Contrast Ratio of 20,000:1. The chip is expected to enable future 4K2K projectors to be smaller, lighter and more affordable. JVC’s 4K2K device chip will deliver images that are more than 4 times the resolution of high definition. “Introduction of a 4K2K device this small is truly a breakthrough in the industry and a much needed technology,” said Jack Faiman, vice president of JVC’s display division. “An extremely high contrast ratio provides the stability and resolution needed in crucial applications such as flight simulators and robotic surgery.”
