Get 3D Glasses for Those Super Bowl XLIII Commercials

Some people aren’t looking forward to see who’s going to win the XLIII Super Bowl. Some people will only want to see those expensive commercials. And they should be interested in those two 3D commercials we’re going to see. These are DreamWorks’ Monsters vs. Aliens and PepsiCo’s SoBe Lifewater. Intel and DreamWorks have distributed 125 million 3D glasses already but not everyone got a chance to get a pair for their family and friends.

I’m looking forward for the show, and let’s see what those advertising agencies prepared for this year’s Super Bowl game. And may the best team win! Who’s playing again?

New iMacs to Arrive Soon?

We’ve seen our share of all-in-one PCs so far and we’re bound to see even more. One particularly interesting all-in-one computer should be the new iMac which might arrive soon enough. Apple has informed its retailers that current iMacs might not be that available in the following weeks which means that production might have been slowed down or in order to make room for the new models. So when are we going to get the new iMacs? We’re expecting a new Intel processor, maybe a quad-core CPU, and an NVIDIA GPU to go along with that. What about the screen sizes? Are we going to see any changes in that?

Apple doesn’t have any official announcement yet but we’re keeping our eyes wide open for you.

DisplayLink Announces Support for Intel MACs

DisplayLink has announced that it has developed a new way of enabling video projection via the USB 2.0 interface rather than the usual video ports.

When the driver is installed, it automatically recognizes that a DisplayLink-compatible projector is attached and configures itself. Up to four projectors can be used simultaneously on the same machine, according to InFocus.

Mac support for some DisplayLink-equipped products first emerged in 2008, when DisplayLink offered beta and then release drivers that enabled devices equipped with the technology to operate with the Mac. This marks InFocus’ release of Mac drivers for its projector products,

The growing demand for alternative projector interface has been evident. It caters to the business and private demands of people who make use of these projectors for various purposes in aiding their respective goals.

Philips 56-Inch Cinema 21:9 HDTV Isn’t Going to America

If you liked that 56-inch Cinema 21:9 HDTV from Philips and if you happen to live in the USA we have some pretty bad news for you. Philips won’t be bringing it to America just yet. Philips will sell this TV in various European markets for about 3,400 Euro. Do you need one that bad? Maybe next time you’re going on vacation to Europe, you can pick one up. Or you can simple buy a TV from the competition. With the Super Bowl coming up, there are plenty of good HDTV offers to take advantage of.

Sony KDL 20S3000 LCD TV

Today, we are witness to wider screened TVs, mostly of LCD technology. Affordability and price have become a problem for most as these new breed of LCD TVs don’t come cheap. Hence, while the shift towards advanced TV enjoyment is evident, perhaps this 20” LCD TV from Sony, the Sony KDL 20S3000 LCD TV, may be something that may make sense both in demands and financial capacity.

If you are looking for a small LCD TV then you can’t really go wrong with this Sony, but if you’re a little bit baffled by the pretty unhelpful product labelling system employed by Sony then it’s probably worth talking a little bit about the KDL-20S3000’s technical specifications and what kind of things it’s capable of, as well as what kind of environment would best suit it’s use

The only downside to the Sony KDL-20S3000 is its relatively small size that may be unsuitable for medium to large size spaces, and arguably the lack of a second HDMI might be a problem for some but by no means all customers.

Get The Right Screen

If you’ve decided on a projector for your home theater set up instead of an LCD or plasma TV, deciding on a screen can be confusing. Home theater screens are available in many different types and sizes. There are manual pull down screens, electric screens, fixed frame screens, and ceiling-recessed screens. Screens also available for set up with a tripod or a truss frame, and you must choose between motorized or tab-tensioned screens, ceiling vs. wall mounted screens, and that’s all before you even think about price or manufacturer. Screens can also be classified on the basis of their size and the material used.

In choosing a screen you will want to take in to account the following :

1) Room size

2) type of projector

3) amount of ambient light in the room (if any)

4) room shape

5) other uses for the room (if any)

6) price. Smaller discount screens (at 60, 72, or 80 inches) are available for as little as $80 or $90. Larger screens start between $500 and $600 and get more  expensive depending on features, materials, and manufacturer.

TV Wall Mounts Recalled

Milestone AV Technologies has issued a recall on some 140,000 LCD TV wall mounts which can reportedly crack once 26” and larger televisions with DVD players are placed. The TV can fall from the wall mount and lead to serious injuries.

Milestone is aware of 28 incidents in which the mount has cracked and the television has fallen from its mount. No injuries have been reported.

These wall mounts are used with flat screen LCD televisions. The recalled wall mounts are INIT models NT-TVM103 and NT-TVM104. The model numbers can be found on the UL sticker on the television interface.

The mounts were made in China and were sold at Best Buy Stores from June, 2007 up to December, 2008. Consumers should immediately stop using the wall mounts and contact Milestone to receive a free repair kit.

Toshiba Regza 42″ LCD

Toshiba Regza

Toshiba Regza

The latest line of Toshiba high-definition LCD displays, specifically the 42-inch Regza Cinema Series HD, are all thinner, brighter and better than any other set in terms of refresh rate. What’s even better is that you can buy one today for a reasonable $1,699. The changes and improvements in LCD displays have been coming fast and furious, and whoever is ahead of the pack usually doesn’t stay there for long, but for now, the Toshiba Regza 42 inch is definitely in front.

The Regza is 40 inches wide by 25-and-a-half inches tall, nearly four inches deep and weighs a modest 54 pounds. Toshiba’s own SRT (Super Resolution Technology) Technology scales all signals to 1080p, and Toshiba’s ClearFrame 120Hz Anti-Blur Technology eliminates most of the motion blur on images by creating new frames from the digital data and inserting them between the normally-produced frames. Hook up is easy and straightforward and the picture is crisp and clear, making the Toshiba Regza HD a great deal.

Game Day Skills

With the Super Bowl days away, custom theater installations are picking up for many area specialists and audio/visual retailers. Southwest Audio Visual, a San Diego firm that specializes in the design and installation of automated custom home theater systems, has seen an uptick in requests. “No one wants to be bumbling around with remotes, unable to turn on their TV or audio with all their friends watching,” noted Bill Kauzlarich, co-founder of the firm.

“When we install home automation in San Diego we not only incorporate all of your distributed audio and visual systems into one easy to control layout, but our technicians will walk you through how to work it, and ensure you are completely comfortable with your home theater or home automation system before we leave.” So if you’re wondering if this might be a good time to automate your own HT system, you might be right.
