Avanex Corporation exhibited its small form factor amplifier PureGain TM PG300 series during 34th European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication (ECOC 2008). Specially designed for narrowband and single channel applications in high speed transport, the amplifier offers high performance and reliability.

Scott Parker, Senior Vice President of Sales at Avanex, said, “We are a recognized market leader in amplifier solutions at the module, rack, and network-ready levels. The PureGain PG300 amplifier represents a solution geared towards the growing 40 Gbps market.”

The amplifier is available with 7.5 mm height and footprint of 70 x 40 mm and consumes less power as compared to its counterparts. The ease of integration into next generation transponders makes it more versatile and easy to use.

The optical performance combined with space saving design comes at a very low cost. Avanex is still tightlipped on the price front of the amplifier. The next concern is to use it for wideband applications.
