Its twin woofers have increased magnet diameter from 100mm to 120mm to deliver higher sensitivity and tighter bass. B&W employed the concept of constrained layer damping consisting of dual layers of aluminum and paper/Kevlar reducing cone breakup and lower distortion.

683 Loudspeaker features a Frequency range -6dB at 30Hz and 50kHz, Frequency response 38Hz – 22kHz ±3dB on reference axis, Sensitivity of 90dB spl (2.83V, 1m), Nominal impedance, 8Ω (minimum 3.0Ω), Crossover frequencies 350Hz, 4kHz, Recommended amplifier power 25W – 200W into 8Ω on unclipped programme and Max. recommended cable impedance 0.1Ω.
