California to Ban Power Consuming HDTVs?

If you happen to live in California and your HDTV is eating away lots and lots of power then you should consider ditching it and getting an eco-friendlier version. It looks like the California Energy Commission is thinking about banning certain HDTVs that will not pass an efficiency standard. If the bill is passed then you should expect to see in stores only energy-efficient HDTVs by 2011 and the standards will be even tougher by 2013. And in case you’re wondering what’s the purpose of this bill well then you should know that they estimate a reduction in costs by $8.1 billion in the following years! Are we watching too much TV?
