Buffalo, the Japanese company is again in news for the launch of its new Ultra-slim External DVD Writer. The DVSM-PN58U2V is a noble DVD burner which can write DVD+/-R at up to 16X, DVD+/-RW at 8X, DVD-RAM at 5X and CD-R/RW at up to 48X.

The compact DVD burner measures 137mmx142mmx20mm in dimensions and weighs only 304g. The lightweight burner is highly portable and uses the USB 2.0 port for connectivity.

The Buffalo DVSM-PN58U2V  External DVD Burner is available in Black and White shades with a price tag of 8500Yen.

Marshal, the Japanese manufacturer presents its new Blu-ray Player, the MAL-BD02U2. The portable Blu-ray player is 2cm thick, 13.5cm long and 14.5 cm wide. The external player operates on a USB 2.0 connection, however an AC adaptor can also be used.

The Marshal MAL-BD02U2 plays High resolution Blu-ray videos and also functions as an external DVD Burner. The portable player will be available in Japan from March 2009 for an estimated price of ¥9980 which is just around €85.

I-O Data recently unveiled their new and probably First External Blu-Ray Player. Shockingly, the I-O Data BDVRP-UH4 External Blu-Ray Player is only 21mm in size. The ultra slim player also functions as an external DVD Burner.

The player features high-end technology incorporated by Hitachi-LG and a 4MB buffer. The I-O Data BDVRP-UH4 External USB 2.0 Blu-Ray Player is currently available for sale in Japan for 27,400 yen (€235) respectively.

LaCie is ready to meet your Blu-ray burning needs. It has a new Blu-ray drive, the d2 which will burn Blu-ray discs twice as fast as its predecessor did. It will write discs at 8x no matter if you’re going to burn a single- or dual-layer disc. The company has taken the opportunity to upgrade the authoring and backup software that comes with the product. You should expect the revised Easy Media Creator 10 and Toast 9 Titanium software to be present on the d2.

The drive comes with FireWire and USB 2.0 ports and it will work well with both a PC or a Mac. And since it’s an external drive you can simply let it do its thing while you surf the Internet on your computer.

LG Electronics recently launched its range of versatile optical disc drives with Blu-ray writing and reading speed of 6x. The models include GBC-H20L, BE06, GBW-H20L. While the Light Scribe technology lets you create direct-to-disc labels from drive, the SecurDisc capabilities offer data protection and content access control.
