The leading developer of direct-to-disk, long duration recording and playback systems, Conduant Corporation, recently introduced its all new Big River LTX2 data recorder. The new recorder offers the user over 480 Mbytes/second recording and playback performance. The recorder is designed in a portable and compact shape. The data recorder can function as an unconnected system with network control or can also be unswervingly linked to a host computer via its Star Fabric PCI link interface. The product requires only 120 Watts and a DC power source of 12 Volts and can then operate independently from a host PC over an Ethernet connection. With this data recorder a fixed Web server is included for easy internet browser- based control if preferred. The Big River LTX2 data recorder system is rack mountable and has symmetric mass allocation for uncomplicated shock/vibration separation and mounting. In addition, nearly all in-house cables have been eliminated for enhanced consistency, ease of assemblage and motorized robustness. The pricing for the Big River LTX2 of Conduant Corporation starts at around $28,000 for a 1.6 Terabyte system. There is no word about the availability of the product till now.

Sharp DV - ACW 80 High-Vision Recorder is simple in operation and delivers superb quality audio/video content. The recorder supports DVD - RW/- R, DVD video, music CD and CD - RW/- R (music CD format), DVD - RAM* 8, DVD + RW/+ R formats. DV - ACW 80 has the capacity to store 1TB (1000GB) content. The recorder consumes 46 W of electric power. Its sale date is fixed August 21st.

Toshiba has unveiled its new RD-A300 VARDIA DVD/HDD Recorder with 300GB storage capacity. It will be available at an expected price of 150,000 yen (approx. $1,231). It is possible to record 39 hours of digital hi-vision broadcast in the hard disk. In addition to HDD / DVD it can also play back music CD. Watch videos at 1080p resolution.
Toshiba rolled out its new RD A600 DVD / HDD recorder with a storage capacity of 600GB. It features latest VARDIA engine to record video onto HD DVD-R and HD DVD-R DL discs. It also comes with digital recorders having two hi-Vision tuners to receive Japanese HDTV programming and record two shows at the same time. RD-A600 will be available at an expected price of ¥200,000 (about $1,643). There is no information regarding the availability.

Kenwood has announced its new DivX Certified VDP-07 DVD Player. The Player comes with an on screen display (OSD) function which lets the users monitor various menu indications along with the track title, etc.. The DVD player is equipped to deliver the playback of DVD-VIDEO, VCD and JPEG, Dolby digital /dts/MP3/WMA/AAC, DVD±R/RW and CD-R/RW. Kenwood VDP-07 DVD can conveniently record approximately 8 hours of recording.
