Toshiba Japan recently unveiled their new RD-H1000DT TNT HD Tuner with built in HDD. The device can record up to 477 hours of normal or 26 hours of HD video on to the 250GB hard drive. The device also features a DVD recorder allowing you to burn your DVD compilation directly.
The economical TNT HD Decoder is equipped with an HDMI port, a USB port and supports DivX/MP3/Jpeg file formats. The Toshiba RD-H1000DT TNT HD Tuner will be available in June at an estimated price of € 599 respectively.

Panasonic Corporation, Japan recently released its new DMR-XE1 AVREC DVR. The compact device boasts a small footprint of 430mm x 59mm x 242mm. The Digital Video Recorder is equipped with a 160GB HDD to record up to 80 hours of HD video. With its built-in DVD Writer you can burn 2hours of hd videos on a DVD in minutes.
The device gives convenience of operation with a single remote control for recording and browsing channels, when used as a Digital TV tuner. In AVREC mode it records video in AVC/H.264 at 12.9Mbps. The Panasonic Corporation plans to release 25,000 models each month starting 25th April at an open price.

What do you think of Stitch? Would you prefer Lilo instead? Disney has a new LCD TV which comes with Stitch’s head on top. It’s a 20-inch LVD which will get you a 1,680 x 1,050 resolution, HDMI and VGA inputs, a built-in TV tuner, dual five Watt speakers and a remote. Lancerlink, Japan in collaboration with GRANDTEC ELECTRONIC, China unveiled the innovative Grand HD Cinema. As per GRANDTEC, the product is the World’s first of its kind, USB to HDMI converter. The Grand HD Cinema enables you to play media files located in your computer on your Television screen. Integrating an array of such converters you can easily connect up to six external HDMI screens in seconds.
The Grand HD Cinema renders high quality videos at up to 720p and also supports audio signals. The device currently works with the windows family and essentially needs P4 2.4Ghz or higher. The USB to HDMI converter is available globally with a price tag of $140 only.

The Japanese still prefer the analog TV sets to the Digital ones. However, innovation knows no barriers. Toshiba’s newest Digital Tuner may be looked as a key step towards an awaited switch of the Japanese taste to Digital TV sets.
Released on January 22nd the Toshiba SD-PDT12W External Digital TV Tuner bears a compact footprint of height 50mm× width 126mm× depth 126mm. The tuner shows backward compatibility by allowing connection to terrestrial analog models.
The Toshiba SD-PDT12W Digital TV Tuner will be available in the Japanese market from February 1st for an estimated price of 15,000 Yen.

It’s that time of the year again when Elgato decides to refresh the EyeTV hybrid tuner. The Cear-QAM 1080i-tunning USB stick was conceived for Mac users and it will feature better reception and an FM radio tuner. The new piece of hardware is available for just $150 and for that price you will also get a full year’s subscription of TV-Guide. A 3.1 version of the EyeTV hybrid is coming later this month so you might not want to hurry to get this tuner just yet.

Looking for a fully functional HTPC solution for your home theater, but don’t have the room to spare for one of those big clunky ones? Well, Epson may have an answer for you with their Endeavor ST120 HTPC.
Packed into the ridiculously small form factor that you see above is quite an array of different features. On the PC side, it’s got a 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 1GB of RAM, and 80GB of HDD space. Now you may be thinking, that’s not all that great. Well where the ST120 impresses is in it’s built-in Blu-ray writer, and digital TV tuner, effectively making it a perfect solution for any home theater application.
All of that packed into such a little case isn’t going to run you cheap though, Epson’s ST120 HTPC starts at $1,531 with Blu-ray built in, or just $725 with a DVD writer.

If you just so happen to have coated everything in your home-theater in the latest trendy designs, but that damned grey (or black) satellite receiver is bringing down the look of the whole room, Sky’s got you covered, if you live in the UK that is.
