Completed home theater for under $3,000

I don’t know about you guys but the first thing that comes to my mind when I think home theater is: expensive. Not for Shawn Lyman, oh no, he went where no man has gone before and managed to design and execute a hometheater in his house for just $2,300 dollars.

Lyman came to the conclusion of a super-budget home theater when he realized he wasn’t going to live in his current home forever, so why invest all of this money in it if the next owner might not even want it? The real question, howevre, is how did he do it.

Well, first of all the screen, he made himself, $50 which include a blackout cloth and black velvet. The risers to make the apperance of two rows? Also built by hand, and quickly removable if need be. The projector he chose was the Optoma HD70 with it’s 1000 ANSI lumens, 4000:1 contrast ratio and 1280 x 720 resolution. The real reason he chose it though is because it was under $1,000.

So remember folks, when you think that a home theater is out of your budget, think again. It is possible.
