EMP Tek HTP-551

The EMP Tek HTP-551 5.1 Home Theater Package consists of an EP50C center channel speaker, four EP50 compact bookshelf speakers for left and right main and surrounds, and a compact ES10 powered subwoofer. The system includes removable faceplates so the aesthetics can be customized if desired, but the system itself actually offers great surround sound at a moderate price of right around $1900.

The system is easy for beginners to set up, and the small bookshelf speakers are easy to place almost anywhere. The sound quality is more than serviceable for movies but some audiophiles will have problems when it comes to playing multichannel music. The EMP Tek HTP-551 5.1 is not a system for electronic snobs, but newcomers to home theater will be blown away by it. Especially if you are able to find the system on sale, the Tek HTP-551 5.1 Home Theater Package is a great first sound package.
