Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8100 and 8500 UB Projectors Released

It certainly looks like Epson is on the offensive as far as new projectors that can be added to the home theater setup is concerned. Spotted at the CEDIA Expo 2009, Epson has unveiled a couple of new 1080p projectors in the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8100 and 8500 UB. Both feature D7 technology for better color and contrast for better home theater viewing experience.

The Home Cinema 8100 delivers a 36,000:1 dynamic contrast ration while the Home Cinema 8500 UB revs it up at 200,000:1. The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8100 carries a retail price of $1,599 while the Home Cinema 8500 UB will cost around $3,000.

These 3LCD projectors use an advanced, three-chip optical engine for brilliant color and image quality without the possibility of color break-up, unlike DLP projectors that generate images using a spinning color wheel with a white segment.
