Green OLED Become More Efficient in JapanBy DaX - 04/04/2009 6:02:19 PM |
A group of Japanese researchers working with green OLED at the Kanazawa Institute of Technology under Akiyoshi Mikami have announced that they are able to double the efficiency of green phospor-based OLEDs. They were able to pull it off by using a 0.7mm thick glass plate with a refraction index of 2.03 which were capable to boost the light-extraction efficiency by 2.3 times. That means the green OLEDs will get you a light efficiency of 210lm/W compared to just 94.3lm/W without the glass plate. The researchers will probably not stop there and future OLED displays will probably be able to offer consumers even more light efficiency.
