HDMI 1.3 Can Be Upgraded to 3D But…By Brian - 01/01/2010 12:53:32 PM |
With 3D becoming a craze these days, everyone is eagerly awaiting the availability of new Blu-ray players with HDMI 1.4 to experience 3D entertainment. But before you do (especially if you are budget-conscious), you may want to check this out. HDMI 1.3 can still render 3D via upgrade. That is the good news! Now the bad news.
While you can upgrade your old HDMI 1.3 Blu-ray player, you better check your TV set. The upgrade only works with 3D HDTV since old models only come with single-scan capabilities. Actual 3D HDTVs have dual-scanning capabilities, displaying near-simultaneous frames, one for each eye. And to top it all off, you will not get full 1080p 3D via upgrades, only half or a quarter. With so many issues and twists, I guess it would be best to just wait for HDMI 1.4 players to come out instead. Right?
