Hitachi Global Storage Technologies has recently introduced the Ultrastar C10K147 a new hard drive, the company’s first SFF endeavor product. This 10,000 RPM Ultrastar C10K147 hard drive specifically supports powerful-performance and low-power necessities of servers; delivering up to 147GB (1) of capacity and 3 GB/s Serial Attached SCSI interface. With this new hard drive, Hitachi is in ready to expand its enterprise segment contribution with a broad and extended collection. The Ultrastar C10K147 hard drive features a 50 percent smaller foot print and a 40 percent reduction in z-height in comparison with traditional hard drives. Its compact size offers most favorable space and power efficiencies with 10,000 RPM spin speed, high-speed SAS interface and 16MB data buffer. All these features unite to make the Ultrastar hard drive perfectly appropriate for blade servers and 1U and 2U rack-mounted servers for mission-critical applications.
