IBM System Storage for Small and Large Business

IBM extends its disk and tape storage solutions for small and medium businesses (SMBs) with the introduction of IBM System Storage DS3000 and DS4000 disk series, as well as IBM System Storage TS2240 Tape products.

The latest products decrease cost. The IBM System Storage DS3000 disk product series includes low-cost Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) support as well as support for IBM System p servers and IBM BladeCenter Power blades.

The enhanced IBM System Storage DS3000 and DS4000 Series are scheduled to be available from December 7, 2007 and February 8, 2008, respectively. While the DS3000 will bear a price-tag of $4,500, the DS4000 will start at $11,500.

IBM also announced the IBM System Storage TS2240 Tape Drive Express Model LTO 4 Half-High. It offers 800 GB of capacity (up to 1.6 TB at 2:1 compression); high performance 120 MB/sec performance native data transfer rate; continued media support of prior LTO generations; application-managed encryption; and 3 Gbps Serial Attached Storage (SAS) attachment availability. The IBM System Storage TS2240 will ship from November 16, 2007 at an MSRP of $4,500.
