LG LHT 854 Home Theater System Review–Uncontrollable GreatnessBy Steve Anderson - 02/04/2010 2:21:57 AM |
LG has given me more than a few great products to talk about, so I’m not surprised to find that the LG LHT 854 turned out to be a really nice system. Though it’s not without its flaws, the overall effect is that this is a really good system for an out of the box all in one home theater system.
The LG LHT 854 includes a DVD player with 1080p upscaling to give all your standard DVDs the look of 1080p. Plus, there’s also a dock for your iPod that’ll charge and play your iPod (though it works with your iPhone, too), as well as LG’s Simplink Easy control to interface with similar Simplink products, a USB connection, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, and dts-HD Advanced Digital Audio Out.
The sound on this thing is actually really good, putting out some great intensity for an all in one package, though I have to admit that I’m a bit unnerved by the sheer lack of controls front-mounted on the unit itself. An upconvert DVD is always a good thing, especially for those with extensive DVD libraries.
So all things considered, the LG LHT 854 home theater system will put out a lot of great audio for not a whole lot of money–two hundred and thirty bucks worth on Amazon.
