MediaTek MT8530 Unveils First Blu-Ray Chip

MediaTek has unveiled the MediaTek MT8530, the first DivX Plus certified chip for powering Blu-ray players. With the MT8530, Blu-ray players can now play DivX Plus HD videos based on H.264 technology and MKV. HD resolutions up to 1080p will be supported and products using the MediaTek MT8530 chip will be able to play HD files using AAC format audio which should broaden the home theater demands for home theater fanatics today.
