Netflix Recommendation System Was Beaten for $1 MillionBy DaX - 06/28/2009 5:14:39 AM |

Three years ago Netflix came up with a new contest for its faithful subscribers. It promised $1 million to anyone capable of developing an algorithm more than 10% accurate than the one currently made by Netflix.
Currently there’s a winner. Two teams, the Team Pragmatic Theory and Team Bellkor in Chaos, have joined forces to create an algorithm which is 10.05% more accurate than Netflix’s.
If anyone has anything better then there are 30 days for them to come forward. Otherwise that $1 million prize is going to be awarded to those two teams.
