ONKYO TX-SR607

The ONKYO TX-SR607 is one of the most advanced of the company’s new models. It has practically every A/V technology under the sun, including Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Audyssey, Faroudja, and others. Onkyo is beating the competition to the punch by adding Dolby’s ProLogic IIz processing. This adds a little something extra to any existing home theater — sound effects tha come from above.

Dolby says the tech “introduces a vertical component to the horizontal soundfield of a conventional 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system.” If you still desire more, the unit also features six HDMI inputs, with one front-panel HDMI. These receivers also include four gaming modes, support for 1080p, Deep Color, and x.v.Color, and use the Audyssey 2EQ automatic calibration system. Retails for around $599
