Pioneer CEO laughs at economy

Most are worrying if they are even going to be around this time next year, but not Pioneer CEO Masao Kawabata, oh no, he’s just ridin’ this thing out.

In a recent interview conducted by TWICE, the Pioneer exec expressed his concern for the hardships faced by retailers like Tweeter and Circuit City but went out to say that he isn’t really worried about Pioneer:

Premium products are not subject to too much of the ups and downs of the economy. For those who can [afford] the very best they will go and shop for the very best. It is important that Pioneer is not in the commodity part of the market, so we are not too worried.

But, Mr. Kawabata, what happens when there is no one left that can afford said premium products, then will you start worrying?
