Plasmas to Be Banned by EU Laws
There is no question that Plasma TVs consume more energy than the standard television sets. Then suddenly LCD TV technology came into the picture offering new hope for better energy consuming viewing solutions. LCD TVs have become a better alternative.
With that in mind, it is not surprising why many consumers are turning to LCD televisions. Plasma television screens, which are thought to consume four times as much energy and produce four times as many carbon emissions than other panels, are not helping reduce our carbon footprint.
So if a new standard is set, expect some laws banning the energy sucking Plasmas soon.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), said: “In the past five years we have seen the main television in a household change from typically being a 24in to 32in CRT television to being a much larger flatscreen television, with screen sizes of between 32 and 42in becoming more and more common. Not surprisingly, this has seen the energy used by the main television in the house increase”.

The ban is NOT on lcd tvs or plasma tvs or projection tvs..
The ban will be on all enerygy inefficient tvs according to their size. All newer model LCD’s and Plasmas rate about the same power wise.
Guess they will have to ban them all
