Recently, Sharp unveiled the new BDXL Blu-ray disc, which carries from 100GB (3 layers) to 128GB (4 layers) in storage capacity. But unfortunately, this disc is currently only playable on the Sharp BD-HDW700 BD recorder/ player. The Blu-ray disc is available in BDXL-R and BDXL-RE versions. However, only the 100GB model exists as a Re-Writable disk. Sharp plans to release the BDXL Blu-ray disc in Japan on the thirtieth day of July. Then it will be available for retail at 5,000 Yen ($57).
