Upgrading technology frequently is the prerequisite of survival in a highly competitive market. Sony understands this and has rolled out an upgraded model of its recently announced Blue Ray BDP-S300 in the form of high-end Sony BDP-S500 Blue-Ray Player. Just like its elder brother the latest model comes with a complementary copy of the Spider-Man™ High Definition Trilogy on Blu-ray Disc.

BDP-S500 supports a wide variety of formats and media, including CD, BD-ROM, DVD, and DVD video playback from DVD/DVD±R/±RW encoded discs, as well as MP3 audio files and JPEG images stored on DVD±R/±RW discs and BD-R/RE discs.

The BDP-S500 features a motorized sliding panel at the front which opens automatically when you load or eject a disc, new x.v.Colour standard, BRAVIA Theatre Sync technology and film reproduction at 24p True Cinema. Loaded with new-fangled technologies, the BDP-S500 is aimed at customers demanding a definitive high-definition viewing experience. The player will be available from the end of October at an estimated price €899 (£599 GBP).
