The popular and giant seller of the electronics, Sony has decided to make a drop in the price of its Blu-ray player. According to the decision the price of its Blu-ray model the BDP-S350 will be reduced by $100. This will make the retail price go down to $300 in September. It also has another plan of releasing its new high end Blu-ray player the BDP-S550 for $399 in October.
Following this business trick the competitors of Sony, like, manufacturer Funai plans to drop the price of its players that comes under brands like Philips/Magnavox, Insignia and Sylvania. They are reducing the price of their Blu-ray products by $50 to $250.
Right from the time of its introduction Sony is selling its Blu-ray players at or above a price of $399 only. Therefore, this sudden and big drop in the price will surely prove to be successful in pulling more consumers towards it.
