Sweet Home Theatre Setup – Nautilus Redux

You’re going to notice something right away when you look at the last Nautilus theatre design we featured here and the newest version we’re presenting tonight.  You’re going to notice that this version is a whole lot more spartan than the original, but that doesn’t make it any less sweet.

This one actually has an edge on the original, using a darker wood which comes closer to that ideal chocolate brown color for maximum contrast.  And, even better, there are actually four LCD TVs in the walls, surrounded by portholes and set to play a constant loop of underwater footage in a series of portholes along the sides of the theatre.

Each of the entry doors into the theatre is a foot thick to prevent sound leakage, and there are a series of ports all along the theatre to prevent sound overpressure.  The last Nautilus may have been beautiful, but this is a masterwork of sound engineering.

And it’s due to that incredible engineering–substance over style uber alles, baby!–that this ranks as a sweet home theatre setup.
