Sweet Home Theater Setups - Papa Roach’s Home Theater

It’s been a WHILE since we’ve had the chance to put up a celebrity’s home theater setup on the sweet home theater setups portion, folks, so I’m definitely glad to have dug up this pic of Papa Roach’s home theater.

The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s really, REALLY subdued.  There’s no hundred and fifty inch screen here.  No massive speaker array.  No theme, even.  Why, we’ve seen dentists and small business folks with nicer than Papa Roach!

That having been said, however, it’s an issue of quality over quantity, as they’ve installed a seventy three inch Mitsubishi TV (no word on whether it’s a plasma or an LCD), as well as an HD DVR along with Apple TV, and speakers from Rotel and B&W.

Okay, so it’s REALLY subdued.  But hey, it’s not always about big and loud–sometimes it’s just about the kind of place you’re most comfortable watching movies.  And for Papa Roach’s family, well, it’s definitely a sweet home theater setup.

Sweet Home Theater Setups - The 1400 Square Foot Basement

It’s always great to do two extremes in the same day.  We talked about a theater earlier today that featured an incredible aspect ratio on a relative shoestring, and now today, we’re going to follow that up with a monster home theater that takes up an entire fourteen hundred square foot basement.

Oh yes.  Fourteen hundred square feet.  Now, it’s not JUST a theater.  I admit to a bit of duplicity on that score, as the space is shared with a wet bar, a game room, a workshop and a bathroom.  But still–a home theater with all those amenities may well surpass sweet and go all the way into epic.

The theater itself, meanwhile, has a concession area and plenty of choice components put into it, including a Kenwood receiver, a Panasonic projector, a Motorola HD DVR and plenty more.

It bears repeating–this stopped being a sweet home theater setup when it tacked on all the extras.  The term epic truly does apply, because for a home theater with all the trimmings and then some, sweet is almost a graphic understatement.

Sweet Home Theatre Setup: TomF

So today, we’ve got a picture, along with a whole panoply of specs, all of which you can catch here, of another sweet home theatre setup.  Over on the AV Science Forum, TomF has posted his theatre, which is really rather impressive, even if it doesn’t look it at face value.

He’s gone relatively basic with his setup, putting some really high-quality components in his family room.  He’s gone so far as to install Targus laptop cooler mats under some of the equipment to help against overheating, and frankly, I really hadn’t thought that HD DVRs had that great an overheating risk.

What strikes me directly is that he’s put this equipment in at least a ground level or possibly second floor room, because, and I could be wrong, there looks like plenty of natural light coming in.  Though it doesn’t look like screen glare is a problem in this case, it may depend somewhat on the time of day the picture was taken.  Really, folks, the best possible room you can put a home theatre setup in is a windowless room, or failing that, a basement with small windows.  The darker you can make the room, the better the result will be.

But from the looks of things, TomF may not have too much problem in that regard, so raise your popcorn bucket to TomF for another sweet home theatre setup!

And folks, if you want YOUR home theatre included in these, just drop us a line!  Links to your theatre are great, as are any pics.
