Here is a device that basically explains itself. The Retro Cube Mini Speaker with MP3 Player is from fu-bi of Japan which features a 3W x 2 channel speakers that should render some great tunes from various sources. You can hook it up via USB 2.0 connection or directly from a SD/SDHC memory card since the speakers come with a built-in MP3 playback capability. The battery is good for 3 hours of use. This is now available in Japan for $50 but no word on whether it will become available internationally.

Thanko AV Bank Portable Media Player

If you are a sucker for handy portable media players in the market, here is one from Thanko once again! This time, Thanko offers a portable media player in the AV Bank. This is a multi-functional device that can be used as a music player, photo frame, video player and voice recorder. It features a 4.3” screen with a 480×272 resolution, built-in mini speakers and a retractable stand. It supports most media formats and is relatively cheap for $78. Apparently this thing is only available in Japan but with the help of other sites, this may soon be made available internationally.

JVC DR-BH250

If you think the VHS player/recorder is dead, guess again. For some reason, the JVC-DR-BH250 continues the legacy. Not only does it continue to play the usual VHS tapes, it can even record blu-ray and some other content as well. And if you are worried about storage, never fear. It even comes with a 250 GB hard drive to save those recorded video formats. The JVC DR-BH250 is slated to arrive in Japan by November and will carry a $1,400 price tag.

NEC ValueStar W All-in-One Computer Revealed

NEC has joined the likes of Dell, HP and Sony in delivering the latest all-in-one desktop PCs powered by NextWindow optical touch screens. NEC has launched the ValueStar W AIO computer which features a 21.5” touch screen is only available in Japan. The launch of the NEC ValueStar W follows the release of previous models from leading companies like the TouchSmart 300 and 600 from HP and the Dell Studio One 19 AIO.

Critics believe that the AIOs with screens larger than 16” will increase in shipment by 2010, which should not really be surprising. AIOs seem to be the new flavor in the techies mind and it seems that this is where most computer monitor makers are focusing right now.

Buffalo BR-PX68U2-BK External Blu-Ray Writers Announced

For the people looking for reliable Blu-ray writers in the market, Buffalo has released another one today but unfortunately for the Japanese market. The new model is the Buffalo BR-PX68U2-BK external Blu-ray writer, a device that measures just 137mm x 142mm x 20mm and weighs only 340 grams. It makes use of USB connectivity and has write speeds of up to 6X for BD-R, 4x for BD-R DL, 2x for BD-RE SL/DL, 8x for DVD-R/+R/+RW, 6x for DVD-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM, 4x for DVD-RW/+RW DL, 24x for CD-R and 10x for CD-RW.

The Buffalo BR-PX68U2-BK will be available in Japan by November for about $340.00.

Samsung Electronics unveils another concept television set with this 30” AMOLED 3D TV with Full HD in Japan. Measuring just 2.5 mm thick, this TV set boasts of shutter-glasses technology which can help reduce the dizziness for some people who are still not used to 3D displays. No price has been bared for now but if you consider the features TV set, expect it to be costly!

Dell Inspiron One 19 All-in-One Gets Official in Japan

With Windows 7 officially out there we’re bound to see even more all-in-ones get unveiled soon. Dell has just launched a new all-in-one desktop in Japan, the Inspiron One 19.

Interested in specs? The Inspiron One will come with either a 2.6GHz or a 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB RAM, up to 500GB hard drive, a DVD burner, 802.11b/g WiFi, Firewire, six USB 2.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, built-in webcam and an 18.5-inch 1,366 x 768 LCD display.

Interested in prices? The One 19 featuring a 2.6GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD is available for $768 while the 2.93GHz processor, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD version is available for $932 in Japan. Interested?

JVC UX-GN6 Stereo System

This stereo component system may seem like a thing from the past but it does have some new enhancements. New features that highlight the retro JVC UX-GN6 stereo system include iPod compatibility and forward looking laser touch panel. It comes with the usual radio tuner and CD player for audio entertainment. A keen highlight is the built-in motion sensor which helps in the easier interface with a simple wave of the hand. The JVC UX-GN6 is already available in North America and will be available in Japan next month.

JVC SP-FT 31MM Thin Speakers

We have seen thin HDTVs so why not pair them off with ultra-thin speakers? If that wasn’t possible before, now it is very possible. JVC unveils a couple ultra-thin speakers measuring 31mm, the SP-FT1 and SP-FT2. To complete your ultra-thin audio setup, pair them all of with an AX-FT amplifier which can boost audio up to 80W over 4 channels and supports DTS, Dolby Digital and AAC formats. The speakers will retail for about $223 while the amplifier costs around $267. They will come in two colors. The black version will come out in Japan this November while the willowy white will be available by December. It did not indicate when it would be available in other regions.

Humongous Mitsubishi 155 inch OLED TV Unveiled

Mitsubishi unveiled a monstrous 155” OLED TV at the CEATEC 2009 in Japan which should make ego-boasting home theater owners sheepishly shy away. The name of the game is “BIG” in the visual displays and it looks like the Mitsubisi 155” OLED TV has made all other products shrink in shame, at least for the moment. This 155” behemoth OLED TV is made of 720 modular sections which measures 4×4 inches. No word on pricing but for something this huge, expect the price to be gigantic as well!

Panasonic 1Seg TV with Blu-Ray Player

Panasonic has enhanced its portable 1Seg TV sets a bit by adding a built-in Blu-Ray disc player. This becomes a big improvement from the line of portable 1Seg TV devices that they had released some months back but the problem is that it will be only available in Japan. No word on pricing and when it will be actually available yet. Additionally, no mention of this new Panasonic portable device coming to the U.S. just yet.

Epson Dreamio EH-DM30 with Built-in DVD Player

Epson unveils the Epson Dreamio EH-DM30 projector, a device that comes with a bonus in the form of a built-in DVD player. Also included are speakers for this projector that displays 720p images via 1280×800 resolution. It also boasts of a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 2,500 lumens brightness.

The built-in DVD player supports most known formats like JPEG/MP3/WMA and DivX/DivX Ultra files. Or if you want, simply plug in your portable USB drive with saved movies and enjoy them on a wider display via this projector. The Epson Dreamio EH-DM30 also comes with a HDMI interface.

The Epson Dreamio EH-DM30 will be available in Japan by October 29 and will retail for $1,300. No word on when it will be available in the international market.

Dell 24” U2410 IPS Monitor Comes to the U.S. for $599

Dell originally unveiled the Dell 24” U2410 IPS Monitor in Japan last month for about $758. Now it officially lands in U.S. territory, reportedly retailing for about $599. Available at Dell’s USA store, the U24210 features a 1920×1200 pixel resolution with a 178-degree viewing angle.

The Dell U2410 carries the usual jacks and ports such as the DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, composite and VGA. The specs are practically the same except for the price which seems to be lower than what we expected when it hit in Japan. But then again, who’s complaining!

Sony ZX5 Bravia LED HDTV Released

Sony Electronics unveils its latest LED HDTV offering with the Sony ZX5 Bravia LED HDTV. This latest LED HDTV will be available in 46” and 52” sizes, supporting 1080p. The Sony ZX5 is super-slim and integrated with wireless streaming capability. It also features LED backlighting technology and its marquee 240Hz “Flow Motion”.

Among the ports included with the Sony ZX5 Bravia LED HDTV include four HDMI ports, USB, optical digital out, PC and S-Video. It even includes twin 10 watt speakers. The Sony ZX5 is set to be unveiled in Japan this November. No word on pricing.

LG W2363V LCD Monitor Available in Japan this Month

A new LG Monitor will be available for Japanese consumer later this month. The W2363V is a 23-inch full HD monitor which will be ready to offer you a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, a brightness of 300cd/m2, a 2ms response time, 2 HDMI ports and SRS audio support. We have no pricing details at this point and we have no idea whether the monitor is heading to other markets too but we’ll be back with more details soon.

NEC Has Seven New Projectors for Japan

In case that Taxan projector we’ve shown you earlier didn’t inspire you all that much then we have some more projectors for you to inspect. They are all new and they are also available for Japan for now. NEC is responsible for the creation of these seven new beasts and here’s what you can expect from each one:

Sony Waterproof Universal Remotes

Sony is going to launch a whole new line of universal remotes and besides being able to control pretty much everything that lies around your house, they are also waterproof. That means you can afford to occasionally drop them in any kind of liquid and still be able to use them later.

The remotes will be available in Japan at first and starting with September 10 you will be able to get your new Sony universal remote control.
