NEC has joined the likes of Dell, HP and Sony in delivering the latest all-in-one desktop PCs powered by NextWindow optical touch screens. NEC has launched the ValueStar W AIO computer which features a 21.5” touch screen is only available in Japan. The launch of the NEC ValueStar W follows the release of previous models from leading companies like the TouchSmart 300 and 600 from HP and the Dell Studio One 19 AIO.
Critics believe that the AIOs with screens larger than 16” will increase in shipment by 2010, which should not really be surprising. AIOs seem to be the new flavor in the techies mind and it seems that this is where most computer monitor makers are focusing right now.

It started out with a forty thousand dollar outbuilding and a dream. But for one young family man, it eventually became the sweet home theater setup he’d always wanted it to be.
Rather than GOM fabric or acoustic dampening walls, Greg Powers’ home theater setup uses over seventy individually crafted fabric wall panels. It’s one of the first home theaters to use this process, and you can see them hanging on the walls of his home theater, pictured at right. This is actually an incredibly difficult process, as each frame must be precisely engineered so that they fit together in sequence, like massive tiles of fabric that hang on a wall.
But it’s not just this thoroughly unusual approach to home theater building that makes this a sweet home theater setup–there’s plenty of choice hardware in here too. There’s an LG Super Blue DVD player, Polk Audio speakers, NEC projector and one hundred ten inch Stewart filmscreen.
Between the innovation of its construction and the quality of the gear, this is definitely a sweet home theater setup in every particular.

Some kids have all the luck! It is hard enough to get hold of a wide screened television set and yet some people who can afford them are now having them installed in all the different places!
Take this 100” screen for instance. It is perfectly installed in the ceiling of a kid’s room (yes that is right, A KID’S Room!) which is really going to make a lot of people envious, including me. At the heart of the setup is an NEC projector along with some Draper projection mirrors, which fills that huge StarGlas60 display with full HD images than can be viewed from almost any angle.
But while you are drooling about it, you can bet it cost the people a lot of money apart from making some modifications to make it all work. You do not just mount a 100” screen on the ceiling and expect it to last long up there. The people had to make some improvements in terms of reinforcing the ceiling. And you can bet all these troubles cost quite a fortune!

The larger the display the more issues come out as far as clarity on projection is concerned. And with that issue up in the air, Texas Instruments unveils a potential solution in the form of these new DLP Cinema 4K chips which aim to illuminate every size theatre screen via its platform.
The new chip will be delivered to licensees, Barco, Christie Digital and NEC. Texas Instruments is recognized as the cinema technology provider offering solutions with low operating costs, and its inclusion of another resolution gives exhibitors worldwide the widest variety of options to fit their needs and screen sizes.
“Texas Instruments is proud of its contributions to the cinema industry and is absolutely committed to further innovation through DLP Cinema,” said Kent Novak, senior vice president and general manager of DLP Products. “DLP Cinema remains dedicated to its customers, and through shipping millions of units we are able to provide a significantly lower cost structure in comparison with our competitors.”
The next generation DLP Cinema electronics platform combines the three boards needed to produce images into a single board. The result is a lower cost solution to DLP Cinema’s OEM licensees. The next generation DLP Cinema platform works seamlessly with over eight server solutions and multiple 3D platforms.

For most people who are particular about resolution and the files that they play on a larger screen, you may have noticed that blurry images and some pixelation occurs. And while the recourse would be to capture such images with a better device or a higher resolution, NEC unveils a software, the µPD9280GM, which can reduce blurring that occurs when low-resolution images and video are expanded and displayed in 1920 x 1080-pixel high-definition monitors.
Key Features:
- Enhances SD video and image data for crisp display in full HD
- Capable of displaying one billion colors
- No need for external memory
With this new software NEC plans to continue developing super-resolution system-on-chips (SoCs), by leveraging its super-resolution IP cores that can be embedded into ASICs or other ASSP products. With this wide range of products, the company intends to continue to enhance its super-resolution lineup and plans to reach sales revenue of 10 billion yen in 2010.

Expect the projector manufacturers to come up with new projectors to go with the times especially since it is the 3D generation. For its part, NEC has launched its latest projector, the NEC NC2500S-A digital cinema projector which allows 3D content to utilize the full 2K resolution of the 1.2” DMD from Texas Instruments using triple flash technology for smooth motion.
The battle today is how to provide the needed resolution required by 3D technology. Fortunately, NEC has taken everything in consideration, providing a better viewing experience for people who put premium in visual entertainment.
“We are pleased that Clearview’s legendary Ziegfeld Theatre will be one of the first theatres to install NEC’s new digital cinema projectors-which will debut in time for the opening of Disney’s latest 3D release, Up,” said Doug Oines, senior vice president and general manager for Clearview Cinemas.

LCD technology has made raves for the private consumers but they are likewise a growing demand for businesses who advertise with flare. Today, we see a lot of public places making use of LCD technology, getting in with the times for a better quality promotional channel that helps businesses get the exposure that they need. And along those lines, you will notice a brand serving that niche, that of which is NEC.
In 2008, NEC introduced the MultiSync 15 Series in response to customer requests for value-priced, commercial-grade displays. The 46-inch MultiSync LCD 4615 is the latest, and largest, addition to the series, which already includes 32-inch and 42-inch screens.
As with other models in the line, the 4615 has NEC’s TileMatrix technology, which allows it to be part of a 16-display (4-x-4) video wall, while the TileComp feature compensates for the display’s bezel size to create a more seamless wall.
Available now with a current street price of approximately $1,900, the MultiSync LCD 4615 offers a fantastic picture and feature-set to businesses looking for a relatively affordable entry into digital signage.
