Sharp LCD Not to be Imported in the USA Anymore

We have some bad news for Sharp fans. It looks like the US International Trade Commission has ruled in favor of Samsung in its patent dispute with Sharp and thus the latter company will not be able to import anymore LCDs in the USA. Sharp will still be bringing LCDs in the US as long as those do not infringe on Samsung’s viewing-angle patent. That means you can say bye bye to quite a few Sharp panels including the Aquos TV line. While we’re waiting for the imminent appeal from Sharp you should definitely get your Aquos TV while you still can!

Vizio to Take Funai to Court

Vizio has filled an antitrust an unfair competition lawsuit against Funai. Vizio claims that Funai is
“acting alone and in concert with others, unlawfully restrained trade and monopolized the market for the licensing of technology used to interpret and retrieve information from a digital television broadcast signal, as well as the market for digital television sets and receivers.” Vizio doesn’t seem to like the fact that Funai acquired the rights for a U.S. patent and it is feeling threatened by it. Who will win and how will this trial affect us all? We’ll see in the months to come.
