Consumers Wanting More Web-Enabled HDTVs

A new report from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reveals that consumers are increasingly calling for web-enabled HDTVs. The survey showed that nearly 14.5 million people want to buy a web-enabled TV and half of all those are looking to buy a TV in the next year. Participants were asked what they would use their future or current internet-ready TVs for.

Slightly less than half (48%) said they would use the net to browse show information and look up songs that play during broadcasts while another 44% indicated that they wanted a web-ready TV to look up actor info. Other popular applications of web-ready TVs are checking out the weather in real time, online video streaming and online gaming.
