Today, Virgin Mobile officially launched the Mi-Fi 2200 router. Apparently, this is the router made by the company and it allows connectivity for at least five Wi-Fi devices, which all have access to Virgin’s 3G network at the same time. This portable router also comes with the first pre-paid plan based in the United States as well.

Furthermore, the 2200 Mi-Fi Router features WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, WEP and SPI firewall security, VPN option for remote work access and a battery life of four hours. Currently, Best Buy and Radio Shack are offering this router for a price of $150. However, Virgin Mobile is considering additional options for the 2200 Mi-Fi Router such as $10 for 100MB for up to 10 days and $20 to $60 for 30 days included for the $60 plan with 5GB of data. You might be interested in this router if you’re a basic user of the Web and you could team up with your friends for the purchase although the device is not ideal for streaming or downloading.
