One of the easiest and most effective ways of getting media is through streaming services. While they are a few out there the one big name that you’ve probably all heard of is Netflix with their Stream Instantly service.

However, if rumors are to be believed Google is going to be getting down on the streaming media industry very soon and is looking to give Netflix a run for their money. According to these rumors, Google is currently in advanced talks with major movice studios regarding bringing pay-per-view movies to YouTube – streaming, at $5 per movie.

If this pans out, YouTube may one day be not only the one stop shop for viral videos and the like, but also one of the premiere video streaming services on the web. This would go nicely with the forthcoming Google TV platform, don’t you think?

We’ll keep you posted as the story develops.
